Procedure
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to increase the size of the breast using implants. During this procedure, the surgeon will make an incision to place the implants while the patient is under general anesthesia. This procedure process includes a consultation so the patient can meet their surgeon to discuss options and approaches.Â
Many patients seeking breast augmentation are not able to have it covered by their insurance. In this case, patients may consider a breast augmentation with a Direct Specialty Care (DSC) provider. Smith Medical offers affordable plastic surgery to patients seeking transparent, quality care.
When is This Procedure Necessary?
There are a few reasons why patients may consider a breast augmentation including to increase breast size, to level asymmetrical breasts, and to lift the breast after pregnancy or weight loss. Regardless of the reason, Smith Medical works closely with patients to help them make their decisions and find a plan that they are most comfortable with. Regardless of the reason, we strongly believe that all patients deserve to feel comfortable and confident in their skin. Smith Medical offers an affordable alternative to traditional, insurance-based breast reduction surgery.
What To Expect
Prior to the procedure, patients will have a consultation with their surgeon to establish their goals with treatment. During this consultation, the incision site and removal method will be determined. Patients will be under general anesthesia to ensure their comfort throughout the procedure. The surgeon will remove the patient’s desired amount of tissue using the method the patient decided on. Once the goal of the procedure has been achieved, the surgeon will close the incision and the patient will be monitored as they are removed from the anesthesia.
Patients may experience discomfort, swelling, and bruising, in the days following the procedure. This is manageable through a course of pain medications and antibiotics prescribed by the doctor. Patients are expected to wear a bandage to protect the surgery site. The surgeon will provide instructions about removal including when the patient can shower. Following surgical instructions is integral to a successful recovery.
